How about a global network to tap solar energy in tropical regions and transfer it around the world to provide electricity to those who need it?

Based on the application of direct solar and associated "renewable" energies as a major source (gradually replacing fossil and nuclear), a strategy must be evolved into global, as well as regional and local planning, for a supply and distribution system to realize the potential capacity of solar energy effectively and economically.

Such a strategy may lead to a global girdle of electrical power generating units in the tropical regions. These units will run on energy from the sun obtained by using concentrating collectors globally around the clock. Such a global solar network becomes economically feasible because only the initial capital costs are involved without recurring "fuel" costs.

Such one-mega watt units are economic, can be set up and linked up to form a grid in a district, then to a region and can be extended all over the world. It needs no expert to say that solar energy is almost completely free from pollution and that it presents very low risks of lethal or fatal hazard situations.

Neil J. Shendge, Scientist, UK

Technology is used in our daily life. The people will be the creators of technology. Technology will not be in the hands of only a few. Everyone will have technological 'know-how'. Technology and freedom should go together.
