India Approves Intra-State Transmission Systems For Renewable Energy

Dear GENI Friend,

India is the world's largest democracy and second largest population at 1.2 billion people (17% of the global total).  It is predicted that India's population will surpass China in the coming decade, and these two nations will represent 40% of our world's population.  What happens in India will affect us all.

http://www.simplydecoded.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/India-Wind-Resources.jpgBy 2022, Prime Minister Modi is targeting 100,000MW of new solar power capacity and 60,000MW of newly installed wind power. This is a five-fold increase in their renewable generation capacity!

To meet this pledge will require technology transfer, domestic and international investment and political will on their part.  It is a big deal.

We rarely look beyond our national borders. But we now live on a planet where actions in far-off nations impact everyone. If India, with all its challenges can make this transition, then it is incumbent upon every nation to take a stand. We need your help to link, share and promote this solution in your country.
