Requesting your continued support into 2001

Dear GENI Friend,

Remember Y2K — where some predicted the energy grid would fail, computers would freeze and food shipments delayed? Well the world survived — and many people thrived in a booming global economy. Unfortunately, the rich/poor gap widened for both struggling nations and individuals.

The topic of energy became a priority as deregulation created huge price spikes in California, natural gas prices jumped and gasoline prices hit U.S.$2.00/gallon (cheap by European standards). The image of the US Energy Secretary asking OPEC (oil producing nations) to increase production speaks loudly about our universal addiction to fossil fuels.

Amidst this, GENI had our best year ever in gaining awareness and global commitment:

• San Diego hosted the APEC Energy Minister's Summit
• GENI hosts the book, map exhibit at Bucky Fuller one-man play
• GENI contacts every President, Prime Minister and UN Ambassador and staff leading up to the United Nations Millennium Summit
• GENI is a featured presentation at the Global Super Projects Conference
• GENI presented to Caribbean Energy Ministers
• Rotary International exhibit and contact with their foundation

These are your results. They would be impossible without your financial support. I hoped we have earned your continued support — and if you had a good year, maybe you would consider an increasing your monthly pledge?
