PV plant
May 27, 2008 -- Datamonitor
Spanish renewable energy firm Acciona has stated
that the 46MW photovoltaic plant it is building in
Amareleja, Portugal, is 66% complete and is expected
to be connected to the grid later in 2008.
This facility will produce 90 million kWh per year,
equivalent to the electricity consumption of 30,000
Portuguese homes. The facility is equipped with 2,520
solar trackers which support 262,080 photovoltaic
(PV) modules.
Acciona noted that, to date 30.41MW of electrical
capacity has been installed, which is approximately
66% of the total planned capacity. Installation work
is expected to continue through summer 2008. The
facility is already feeding electricity to the grid
from the 3.18MW capacity which became operational
at the end of 2007.
