China Wind Power Installed Capacity
Tops 10,000MW
Jan 16, 2009 - SinoCast Business Beat
China had completed wind power installed capacity
of more than 10,000MW by the 2008-end, ranking No.5
around the world, said Zhang Guobao, director for
the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC),
the country's macro-economy regulator.
The Chinese central government gave a strong support
to the renewable energy development in 2008, and
total newly-added wind power installed capacity
exceeded 4,000MW. By far, around 800,000MW power
generation sets have been installed across China.
Mr. Zhang estimated that China would gradually
outraced other countries and territories in the
coming several years, by virtue of an aggregate
wind power installed capacity of 20,000MW to 30,000MW.
Presently, the global wind power industry keeps
a fast growth, and total installed capacity has
beaten 100,000MW.
China has arranged the construction of a batch
of over-1,000MW wind power bases in Gansu, Hebei,
Jilin, Jiangsu, and Inner Mongolia, and several
10,000MW wind power bases will be built in 2020.
