Vietnam, Cambodia to sign energy agreementJul 22, 2009 - Asia Pulse Data Source By the end of the year, Vietnam and Cambodia expect to sign an energy cooperation agreement, which will be effective for 10 years. Officials from Vietnam s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Cambodia s Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy reached an accord on the content of a draft agreement during their working sessions between July 21-22. The 8-article agreement aims to boost investment cooperation on hydro-power plants and the building of power grids connecting the two countries. It will also aim to increase cross-border power sales, promote mineral exploration and exploitation and encourage businesses in the two countries to cooperate and implement sustainable development projects to protect the environment and the ecosystem.
