A GCC-wide electricity grid will be ready by 2010, according to a report by the GCC Interconnection Authority cited by the Peninsula. Contracts worth $1.1bn have been awarded for the first stage. The first section will link Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait by 2008. It will link by 2010 to a second section being built between the UAE and Oman. |
