Iran is carrying out feasibility studies aimed at connecting its electricity grid through two different routes to that of Russia, said here on Sunday, Managing Director of Iran's Electricity Network Management Company Mohammad Ali Vahdati.

The works aimed at building an electricity transmission line to be laid between Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russia is presently underway he noted adding that, "Meanwhile, we are considering the possibility of establishing an electricity transmission line between Iran, the Republic of Georgia and Russia."

He also explained that if the projects prove practical, Iran will significantly enhance its electricity swap projects with other neighboring countries, the Persian service of Iran's Petroenergy Information Network (PIN) reported.
