RTE, National Grid to spend 70 mln euros on France-UK power
line maintenance

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - French grid operator
RTE and its British counterpart, National Grid, said they
will spend 70 million euros upgrading the high-voltage power
line between France and the UK.
As part of the maintenance, the grid operators
said they have awarded a contract to Areva (other-otc: ARVCF.PK
- news - people ) to replace the valves that convert the
different currents used in the two countries.
During the maintenance work, scheduled for
April-May 2010 and April-May 2011, the power line will run
on 50 percent capacity for a total of seven weeks, the companies
said.
