China, Kazakhstan pledge to increase energy, infrastructure cooperation

Oct 15, 2009 - Xinhua

BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Kazakh counterpart Karim Masimov met in Beijing Thursday and the two sides vowed to strengthen cooperation in energy and infrastructure.

Masimov attended the eighth prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states on Wednesday.

Wen said China-Kazakhstan relations had been seen great achievements and the two countries enriched strategic cooperation in the past 17 years.

China was willing to work with Kazakhstan in border trade, agriculture, transportation and clean energy, especially in the development and production of technology and equipment concerning solar energy and wind power, said Wen.

China considered its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan as one of its priorities in foreign relations.

Masimov hailed the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and was satisfied with the progress made in China-Kazakhstan relations.

Kazakhstan was willing to boost cooperation with China in energy and infrastructure and push forward bilateral ties, Masimov said.
