The Power Grid Simulation
Intended to provide teachers with a simulation of power
grid of diverse sources, over diverse places, across subsystems
by a Java Applet.
- Renewable
Energy Sources - Solar Wind Geo Gas Hydro
Intended to provide teachers with additional resources
for introducing children to renewable energy, this
animated Flash presentation walks the viewer through
solar, wind, gas, hydro, and geo thermal powers

- How
Does a Wind Turbine Work?
Wind turbines operate on a simple principle. The
energy in the wind turns two or three propeller-like
blades around a rotor. The rotor is connected to
the main shaft, which spins a generator to create
electricity. Wind turbines are mounted on a tower
to capture the most energy. At 100 feet (30 meters)
or more above ground, they can take advantage of
faster and less turbulent wind. Wind turbines can
be used to produce electricity for a single home
or building, or they can be connected to an electricity
grid (shown here) for more widespread electricity
distribution.

This educational web site created by IEA Bioenergy
Task 29 has the aim to inform you about the oldest
source of energy used by men. Inside you will learn
about modern use of biomass in a wise, clean and
sustainable manner.

- Enhanced
geothermal systems (EGS) - Geo
Also sometimes called engineered geothermal systems,
offer great potential for dramatically expanding
the use of geothermal energy. Present geothermal
power generation comes from hydrothermal reservoirs,
and is somewhat limited in geographic application
to specific ideal places in the western U.S. This
represents the 'low-hanging fruit' of geothermal
energy potential

- Florida's
Ocean Energy Landscape - Sea
Francis X McAfee and I completed this animation,
from concept to completion, in 10 days. It ultimately
served as a tool to win the Center for Ocean Engineering
5 million dollars from the Florida Technology and
Research board. The animation was described as "instrumental
in communicating our technical concepts quickly
and efficiently."
