Shawn Lindabury

My name is Shawn Lindabury and I am a senior at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. I spent two months during the summer of 2008 in San Diego interning for GENI. During this time, I have served as the "project manager" for the World Resources Simulation Center (WRSC) project. I helped in the marketing of the project concept to engage potential partners by organizing contacts and their responses and by creating a PowerPoint Presentation. Apart from the WRSC, I worked on a project researching countries that produce a majority of their electricity from renewable sources and also those that are leaders in developing wind, solar, and geothermal resources.

The GENI internship expanded my knowledge of world energy issues and the potential of electricity produced from renewable energy to solve many of the world's most pressing problems. I learned marketing techniques to take a great vision and attract the necessary support to make it a reality. Using PowerPoint and Excel in my projects helped me develop valuable computer skills. I greatly enjoyed working with the diverse set of interns, volunteers, and staff in the office. This internship also exposed me to possible career paths that I had been unaware of coming into the internship, which will be extremely valuable in my senior year. I would recommend a GENI internship to anyone interested in energy and environmental issues.

If you were a GENI intern or volunteer and we've missed your name, please contact GENI as soon as possible, including information about the time(s), date(s), and project(s) involved.
