Takashi KuwaharaFrom April to June of 2008, I interned at GENI under the supervision of Peter Meisen. My project revolved around researching the topic of rural electrification and renewable energy. Building on the reports of previous interns as well as my own independent research, my central task throughout the course of my internship was the following: How can we get from small scale to large-scale rural electrification? During my time at GENI, I was able to learn a tremendous amount about topics ranging from microfinance, renewable energy, to rural electrification. It was particularly facscinating to see how different NGOs managed to make off-grid rural electrification a sustainable practice. Overall, I would say that my experience at GENI was very positive. I was able to research a topic that was pertinent to my interests, and, at the same time, I felt I was making a real contribution knowing that another intern would use my work to continue research on the topic off-grid rural electrification. Sincerely, Takashi If you were a GENI intern or volunteer and we've missed your name, please contact GENI as soon as possible, including information about the time(s), date(s), and project(s) involved.
