Dear
Mr. Meisen:
Thank
you for your letter of 19 July to President Kim
Dae-jung, which has been forwarded to us for a reply.
You
may be aware that power grid interconnections in
Northeast Asia have made relatively slow progress
owing to the political division on the Korean Peninsula
between South and Norh. However, the recent improvement
in South-North relations gives promise of more rapid
progress in the future.
Be
that as it may, the Korean government and this ministry,
in particular are certainly interested in learning
more about your proposed UN Millenium Assembly and
its possible implications for the integration of
electricity grids on a global scale. Therefore,
we would be grateful if you keep us informed of
the progress of this project.
With
best wishes, I remain,
