Dear GENI
Friend,
Because
of your vision of GENI, we have started this year
stronger than ever. Thank you for your continuing
commitment. It is setting an example and others are
joining the team from around the world.
The GENI
Board has doubled in size to twelve very dedicated
members. They lend their business acumen as well as
their time and money to making GENI real in the world.
They have immediately moved into action and created
5 task forces: Organization/Planning, Fund Raising,
Marketing, Finance, and Technical. Each committee
will help to solidify our present foundation and broaden
our awareness in the world.
The Latin
America report Last month GENI helped to organize
a panel session at the IEEE/PES(Institute
of Electronic and Electrical Engineers/Power Engineering
Society) Conference in New York. We brought together
the Latin American energy planners, ministers and
World Bank experts to discuss electrical interconnections
between all South and Central American nations. For
future planning, this discussion will soon be published
for all to read. Thanks for enabling me to be there.
Our "Fund
the Vision of GENI Campaign" to raise $1 million
is accelerating. We have passed $250,000 in cash and
pledges since June 1993, and we are charging ahead
with another series of Contribution Evenings around
the world, updating our existing supporters and inviting
new ones.
Your financial
support enables this project to flourish, and I want
to personally thank you for your contribution.
In partnership,
Peter Meisen
Executive
Director
