Dramatically scaling up
renewables in the global energy mix by 2030 would increase GDP, social welfare
and employment worldwide. -- IRENA Renewable Energy Benefits:
Measuring the Economics
There are
three great reasons to build renewable energy in every nation:
- Renewable energy development is a jobs program. Since renewable
energies; like wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and hydro can be found in almost
every nation, this is a career opportunity for young engineers who want to
build a more sustainable world.
- Building renewables within your nation keeps your currency
circulating within your nation.
- Renewables produce no CO2,
and are one essential solution for every nation following the Paris Climate
Agreement by 197 nations.
2015 investment in renewables attracted a record $329
billion (Bloomberg Energy Finance). Jobs in wind
and solar energy are projected to grow 12-15x by 2030.
Universities are
offering sustainability degrees, and GENI has benefitted from many of these interns
who want to gain addition experience.
GENI is training these students to be the
sustainable leaders of the future. They will be filling some of the most
important jobs to provide clean energy for the future and mitigate the effects
of climate change. This is a growth industry today and millions of jobs are
being created. We have internships available for committed students and
volunteers. Send your resume to: mary@geni.org
