Kuwait Ready to Embrace Solar Energy

The government is seriously considering the use of solar energy as part of its US $120 billion development plan, says KCCI Chairman. Ali Muhammad Thunayan Al-Ghanim Chairman Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said that solar energy has been part of Kuwait's multi-billion dollar development plan. It will be initiated in Kuwait during the next five years, "Your presence here today is surely a wonderful opportunity for both us.

You might talk to our concerned authorities directly about solar energy and we could help you, on behalf of the chamber in many ways," he asserted. Al-Ghanim assured the visiting delegation that Kuwait has always been a patron of German products for many years thanks to its reliability and superior quality. "Your visit to us is proof of our excellent relationship. In return, we will do our best to keep this relationship intact and strengthen it further," he added.

The German business delegation's visit to Kuwait is aimed at enhancing existing business relations and the opening of new opportunities and cooperation. Dr Thomas Bach, President of the Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that relations between Germany and Kuwait have been historically excellent, "We know that Kuwait is an important partner in our economy in this region. Our mutual prospects are even bigger, brighter and better. It will remain significant in more years to come," he said.

Bach, Head of German business delegation, admitted that German companies in Kuwait really enjoy unique business opportunities here. "Investments within the oil industry, construction, infrastructure, energy, education and healthcare sector is expected to reach US $108 billion. Today the volume of bilateral trade stands at EUR 956 million," he said.

The group will be meeting with decision makers from politics and business, as well as one on one meetings with interested business parties in Kuwait. Besides solar companies, the delegation also includes companies that are connected in construction business, security and consulting firms, electrical and electronic services as well as environment-friendly companies involved in treatment, collection and recycling of biological/radioactive waste. The meeting at the KCCI was attended by German Ambassador to Ku wait, Frank Mann.
