Egypt gets World Bank loan for power project
May 21, 2010 - Xinhua
Egypt has reached a 220 million U.S. dollars loan agreement with the World Bank for a power transmission project, Egyptian media said Friday.
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younes said the loan will finance a double-circuit transmission line between the Samalut station in western Minya and wind farms at the Gabal El-Zeit area, Egypt's official MENA reported.
Egypt aims to have 20 percent of its electricity generated from wind and other renewable energy sources by 2020.
