For every 100 watts
of electricity used last year in Portuguese homes, 15.03 watts came from wind
energy - a figure which moves the country from third to second in the world in
terms of the use of wind energy. Portugal is now behind Denmark and Spain.
The
figures published by National Energy Network (REN) on energy production in Portugal
in 2009, show that every 24 hours, 3 hours and 36 minutes, on average, come from
wind farms, that means 31.6 per cent higher than the previous year. [Passage omitted]
