Turkish and Iraqi energy officials on Tuesday discussed cooperation on building power transmission lines to meet electricity demand in Iraq, local media reported.
Visiting Iraqi Electricity Minister Raad Shallal al-Ani met Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz on Tuesday and the two discussed building two power transmission lines for Iraq, the Anatolia news agency reported.
One of the lines will go directly from Turkey to Iraq and the other via Syria, both expected to be put into use before this summer, al-Ani was quoted as saying after the meeting.
Yildiz said their meeting focused on the urgent electricity need of Iraq and what Turkey could do in that aspect.
