China prepares to build world's first 1,000-kv
electricity transmission line
Jul 26, 2005 - Xinhua
Preparations have begun for building an on-off station
for a 1,000 kilovolt electricity transmission line
in central China's Henan Province.
The line was designed to transmit electricity produced
by coal-fired generators with a total capacity of
2.4 million kilowatts in Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces,
both of which are rich in coal.
According to plan, construction of the line will
begin at the end of the year and is scheduled to be
completed and put into operation in 2007. The transmission
line will mainly send electric power from Shaanxi
and Shanxi provinces to central China region.
The transmission line will provide 3,000 megavolt-ampere
of electric energy to Anyang city alone.
