Cambodia to export electricity in 2020

Cambodia will not only meet its domestic
power demand but also export electricity to another
countries in the next ten years, despite of the
fact that it is importing electricity from Viet
Nam and Thailand.
Bun Narith, General Director of the
General Department of Energy at Ministry of Industry,
Mines and Energy (MIME) made the announcement, saying
that it is because of a huge foreign investment
in electricity flowing into the country.
He noted that Cambodia will meet the
country?s electricity demand by 2010, and 5000 MW
per year will be used for export.
Cambodia is having five hydro-electricity
plants and five more could be built in northern
provinces of Rattana Kiri and Stung Treng.
