Geothermal Energy in Great Britain

Terrestrial heat flow density

Terrestrial heat flow density is a measurement of the amount of heat per unit of time and per unit of area forcing itself from the inside to the surface of the earth. The higher the values, the more heat can potentially be obtained with deep geothermal probes.
As can be seen from the map, the potentially most promising region is in the south-west of the country.

The unit of measurement is explained in the glossary (mW/mē).
