GLOBAL ENERGY NETWORK INSTITUTE

a solution to global problems

27 April 1994

World Conference of the Society for International Development (SID)

Dear GENI Friend,

GENI made major strides into the mainstream developmental organizations last month. As a financial supporter of this work, I wish you could sometimes attend these special events to see the difference you are making.

I was invited to present the GENI solution at the World Conference of the Society for International Development (SID) in Mexico City. We also had an outstanding exhibit that drew all 700 delegates from around the world. This is the first time we have received such in-depth exposure within the world community that focuses their efforts on developing nations.

As a result, GENI has new contacts with members of the United Nations Development Program, SID Chapters worldwide and several of the Development Bank officials. What intrigued them most was our work comparing the availability of electricity to the primary quality of life indicators: infant mortality rate, life expectancy, literacy and safe drinking water. In almost every case, once a nation reaches 2000 kilowatt-hours per capita, they have moved from the developing to developed status.

I am sure you are aware of, and also support one of the many international relief/development organizations. Now would be a great time for you to forward the GENI information along to them. You may be the first person to introduce them to Buckminster Fuller's global solution. I've enclosed an article from the Earth Times for you to share.

Thank you for your commitment to making it a better world for us all.

Sincerely,

Peter Meisen
Executive Director
